THE VISA, STEP BY STEP
Where applications actually fail.
- Secure the admission letter. Most universities admit on academic record, with rolling intakes.
- Pay the first tuition instalment. The consulate wants proof the course is paid.
- Prove you can support yourself. About PLN 8,000 in your own account, held over time, not deposited last week.
- Arrange health insurance. Private cover first, then the NFZ public scheme once enrolled.
- Confirm accommodation. A dorm place or signed rental agreement.
- Apply for the national D visa. Commonly 15–30 days, but appointment slots are the real bottleneck.
- Register after arrival. Apply for a residence card if you stay beyond the visa.
THE HONEST PART
Almost every refusal comes down to funds or accommodation.
- The mistake that costs a year: waiting for the admission letter before tracking consulate appointments. Slots book out for weeks in peak season.
- Scholarships are limited. NAWA and Erasmus+ places are few. Budget for full tuition.
