History
The Borgia Ducal Palace
The short version
Town life all year, a beach district for summer, and Valencia by train.
Gandia is two places: the town, with the Borgia Ducal Palace and everyday services, and Platja de Gandia, a long sandy beach a few kilometres away.
The commuter train runs to Valencia, and a campus of the Polytechnic University adds students. Rents are well below Valencia city.
Gandia suits you if
- You want a lower-cost base with a train to Valencia
- You want a big sandy beach without a resort feel
- You want a town that stays alive in winter
Look elsewhere if
- You want a big international community
- You want quiet beaches in August (Platja de Gandia is busy)
