In India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, medical seats are brutally competitive and private seats can cost more than a Romanian medical degree — without the international recognition. Romania offers 13 universities teaching medicine, with degrees fully recognised by NMC, meaning graduates can return home and practise, subject to standard licensing exams. The programme structure follows European Credit Transfer standards, so the degree carries genuine international mobility.
Admission is based on secondary school results rather than a separate entrance exam, which removes one of the biggest sources of stress in the traditional medical school race. Most programmes run six years, blending foundational science in the first two years with clinical training later.
