Hungary's pricing splits cleanly into two categories. Medicine, dentistry, and veterinary programmes at the country's well-known medical universities sit in a higher bracket — comparable to mid-range Western European costs — but come with genuine prestige and decades of international student intake. Every other field, including business at institutions like Corvinus and BME, is considerably more affordable.
This is Hungary's flagship government scholarship programme, covering tuition and offering a living stipend for eligible students. Competition is real, but it is worth applying for regardless of which university your child ultimately chooses, since it meaningfully changes the cost picture.
Budapest is by far the most popular hub and carries the highest living costs within Hungary. Families on tighter budgets should look at programmes outside the capital. As with any EU destination, funds should be demonstrated with a consistent six-month bank history rather than a sudden lump sum, which can raise questions during the visa process.
